It is a great honor and big responsibility for me to greet you as a chair of the committee "Age of plastic" of the Sustainable Development Forum!
United by the idea of finding solutions to world problems, we are the voice of our generation, recalling the world community to build a strong basis for a better future. That is the main reason why we want you all to join our movement intended to change the current situation.
The problem of plastic waste raised in our committee is one of the brightest indicators of human influence on the ecological condition of our planet. We cannot deny Great Pacific garbage patch, dying Marine fauna and microplastic particles that we consume daily with our morning coffee. Our generation does not seem to be ignorant of the natural problems of modernity and this gives us a chance to create a strong society living in appropriate ecological conditions.
Thus, we are happy to invite you to SDG Forum, where youth matters and where our voices are to be heard!
Daria YurchenkoChairperson of the committee Age of plastic
I am pleased to welcome you at Sustainable Development Forum. This year we are to solve one of the most burning issues of the present time - the issue of plastic pollution.
The agenda of our committee is about real threats to the humanity. The problem of plastic sometimes is called “plastic invasion” and this version is definitely suits the issue. We use plastic even without thinking about it. The whole world is troubled by plastic waste. Ecological problems unite all the humanity in solving them, because we can’t stay apart. It is not about just health, it is about survival.
Remember, there is no need to be afraid in coming forward, especially in such great issues as our agenda. Together we can change the rules!
Anastasia DarovskayaCo-chairperson of the committee Age of plastic
We are happy to welcome you to the Forum. The agenda of our committee is rather peculiar and specific. Having appeared just 155 years ago, plastic has rapidly gained popularity since World War Two as a quick replacement to natural sources and is now one of the most formidable threats to our planet. Dealing with plastic demands nonstandard (sometimes - controversial) decisions and innovative methods. That is where creative thinking and flexible decisions come in handy.
Ecological problems erase national, ethnical, cultural, and economic borders, depose conflicts and controversies. We stand as humans in front of the menacing threats to our planet and every individual can make a huge contribution to fighting against challenges.
Put all your energy and knowledge to implementing Sustainable Development Goals and finding solutions that may change the world for the best!
